Remote Systems - Overview
In SIESPACE terms, a remote system is any other system which may take an interest in the equipment that
SIESPACE controls, the information it provides, and the facilities it offers. Furthermore SIESPACE may
utilise the faiclities of remote systems to control equipment or gather information.
Examples of remote systems in use with SIESPACE systems are:
● Urban Traffic Control Systems (UTCs) to gather car park counts, and share rotating prism signs
● Integrated Traffic Management & Control Systems (ITMCs) to display driver information and report
car park information to the ITMC.
● Other SIESPACE systems to share Signs
● Other Parking Systems to gather count information
● SIEMENS' PREFECT Fault Management System to perform maintenance tasks.
● Web Servers to provide information to the Internet
The connection between SIESPACE and a Remote System often uses TCP/IP, but could be as simple as a
serial link cable.
