Supervisorpassword
ThesupervisorpasswordprotectsthesysteminformationstoredintheThinkPadSetupprogram.Ifyouhave
setasupervisorpassword,noonecanchangethecongurationofthecomputerwithoutthepassword.It
providesthefollowingsecurityfeatures:
•Ifonlyasupervisorpasswordisset,apasswordpromptisdisplayedwhenyoutrytostarttheThinkPad
Setupprogram.UnauthorizeduserscannotaccesstheThinkPadSetupprogramwithoutthepassword.
•Thesystemadministratorcanusethesupervisorpasswordtoaccessacomputereveniftheuserofthat
computerhassetapower-onpassword.Thesupervisorpasswordoverridesthepower-onpassword.
•Ifbothasupervisorpasswordandapower-onpasswordareset,youcandothefollowingonlyifyou
havethesupervisorpassword:
–Changingordeletingthepower-onpassword
–Changingordeletingthesupervisorpassword
–Changingdateandtime
–Specifyingtheminimumlengthforpower-onpasswordandharddiskpassword
–Changingthesettingforthesecuritychip
–Erasingthengerprintdata
